It was a couple of years ago now that Coin Quest 1 and Coin Quest 2 were released, so we just assumed that they weren’t as popular as we would’ve thought. But forming clusters and looking out for positions where you want the Wild symbol to appear is quite satisfying, so finally, Slotmill thought that their adventurous Aztec games deserved some further attention. Not in the form of a direct sequel, though. The theme is certainly different for one, and potent Multipliers have been added to spice things up.

Games like Sweet Bonanza and Gates of Olympus have proven how much players love simple Multiplier mechanics, so Slotmill decided to use that recipe, altering some ingredients, of course. Now, there will inevitably be players complaining because that’s what happens every time a provider “borrows” a mechanic from a competitor, but we find that to be rather ignorant. In every single industry, companies analyze other companies' products to see what customers enjoy and then adapt. Some may believe that this prevents progression, but we are of a different mindset. Slot providers should build on each other's prominent mechanics, as they are proven to work, and they may work even better with some tweaks. 

There are a few things we felt dragged the game down, though. First of all, only one Wild symbol can be created per avalanche (tumble), so even if you make 5 different winning combinations on a spin, only one Wild will appear. We realize that we can’t get everything, as there is an RTP number to keep in mind, but it would’ve felt a lot smoother and rewarding if several Wilds could be formed. Secondly, Coin Quest was so satisfying due to the progression bar. Each connection helped you, and it made it quite interactive, as you were always looking out for ways to hit. But with that said, we enjoyed our playthrough of Coins and Cannons, and despite our minor complaints, it’s an overall great game.
