Gates of Hellfire Slot Overview

Gates of Hellfire is a casino slot from Gaming Corps, throwing players smack dab in the middle of a chaotic conflict with bloodthirsty monsters. It's shaping up to be one hell of a battle, but with the arsenal available on our side, the chances look pretty good. Weapons at our disposal will be the central element determining wins in this massively unique production. The studio has already experimented quite a bit with unusual mechanics in their recent release of Wet and Wild Beavers, but this one is a whole different creature. There won't be any spinning reels, paylines, ways, or clusters to follow here. Every single winning coin will come from monsters slayed on the grid by weaponry affecting the area in various ways. The stronger the creature, the better the reward for vanquishing it, up to 5,000x the bet for the toughest, Chthulu-like boss. Make sure to load up plenty of ammo, as the hoards you'll need to defeat before you can face him seem overwhelming, to say the least!

Gates of Hellfire Slot Information

The hellish gate towers before us, occasionally illuminated by the strikes of lightning and glowing with a sinister glow of fire behind it. Hordes of monsters spew from it with every click of the spin button, but otherwise, it's locked tight. Bosses won't reveal themselves until enough effort is put into dealing with their minions. Once the massive doors fling open, there won't be any coming back until one side is defeated. The grid offers 25 positions on which monsters spawn randomly. On the bottom, a horizontal reel will bring in weapons that will affect specific areas on the board and damage any creatures that fall into their range. Once the demon is defeated, it will award the cash prize it's carrying. Players can jump into the hellish battle on any modern device, as the game comes with a universal design that's adjusted to desktops, smartphones, and tablets.

The paytable is filled with monster symbols of different looks and values. Among the regular ones that we'll see in the base game and during the bonus round are Possessed, Hellsprite, Flesh Golem, Plasma Demon, Hell Knight, and Oculus. They bring maximum prizes ranging from 0.5x to 500x the bet. Additionally, there are also Bosses like Baron Twins, Infernal Spider, and Hellfire Tyrant that will award from 50x to 5,000x the bet maximum when defeated. Aside from demon symbols, there are also Scatters to trigger the bonus round and various Weapons, which we will describe below.

Weapon Reel & Enemy Grid

The main playing area is a 5x5 grid where monsters land in random positions on each spin. The row underneath it is the Weapon Reel, where various arsenal and Scatters can land. During the bonus round, the primary grid expands to a 6x7 size.

Hellbox

To the right of the grid, there's a special box in which several upgrades can land. After appearing, the boost will be active on the current spin.

Second Strike =  after all initial weapons have been used, the game re-spins the Weapon Reel and the Hellbox.

Multiplier = all enemies' payouts will be multiplied by the shown value. This upgrade won't be active during Hellfire Spins.

Health Pack = recovers 2 Health Points. This upgrade is active only during Hellfire Spins.

Scatter = along with other Scatters landing on the Weapon Reel, it may trigger the Hellfire Spins.

Weapons

Let's take a look at the tools of destruction we'll get to use to defeat the hordes of monsters. Each weapon has a unique pattern affecting the grid and deals a different amount of damage.

Shotgun = affects all positions on its column, dealing 2 points of damage per position.

Sniper = affects all positions on its column, dealing 5 points of damage per position.

Crossbow = affects all positions on its column and adjacent columns, dealing 5 points of damage per position.

Rocket Launcher = affects a random 3x3 area centered on its column, dealing 20 points of damage per position.

Chainsaw = affects all positions on a random row, dealing 10 points of damage per position.

Plasma Gun = affects all positions on the grid, dealing 15 points of damage per position.

MFG = affects all positions on the grid, dealing 40 points of damage per position.

Enemies

Each monster type comes with a specific amount of health and a range of prizes it can carry per symbol.

Possessed = 0.1x, 0.2, 0.5x the bet / 2 health

Hellsprite = 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x the bet / 5 health

Flesh Golem = 1.5x, 2x, 3x, 5x the bet / 10 health

Plasma Demon = 3x, 5x, 6x, 7x the bet / 20 health

Hell Knight = 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x the bet / 30 health

Oculus = 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 30x, 50x, 75x, 100x, 200x, 500x the bet / 40 health

Barrel = technically, it's more of a helper than an enemy. When its 1 health point is depleted, it explodes and deals 15 points of damage to all adjacent positions.

Boss Enemies

The most challenging and most valuable monsters will be available only during the Hellfire Spins bonus.

Baron Twins = 10x, 15x, 20x, 30x, 50x the bet / 600 health (each)

Infernal Spider = 50x, 75x, 100x, 200x, 500x the bet / 1,200 health

Hellfire Tyrant = 500x, 1,000x, 2,000x, 5,000x the bet / 4000 health

A multiplier of x3 triggered in the Hellbox, affecting all payouts on the grid.

Hellfire Spins

Collecting 3 Scatters in the Weapon Reel and the Hellbox activates the bonus round. Players receive 5 health points and will fight through 3 bosses mentioned above, always in the same order: Baron Twins -> Infernal Spider -> Hellfire Tyrant. At the end of each spin, a boss attacks the player, removing 1 health point, but defeating a boss replenishes all health points. Destroying all monsters ends the bonus round and awards the total accumulated prize.

Ante Bet

Players can activate the so-called Hot Bet to boost their chances of triggering the bonus round by getting a guaranteed Scatter per spin for a 40% increase of the active bet.

Feature Buy

For those who don't wish to engage with the hordes of minor minions and prefer to face the bosses right away, there are two options to utilize.

80x = regular bonus triggered with 3 Scatters.

250x = Showdown Spin, where players face the Hellfire Tyrant using just one spin of the Weapon Reel and 1 health point.

Gates of Hellfire Slot Conclusion

It's been quite a journey going through the ins and outs of Gates of Hellfire, we must admit. You don't often see such unique technical compositions mixed with engaging design and a consistent link between the theme and the features. There's one studio that's been regularly trying to blur the lines between slots and video games in a similar fashion, which you can check out in releases like Reapers, Cash Defense, or Eldritch Dungeon from Print Studios. However, Gaming Corps delivers its own original way of combining gambling with gaming. What's most impressive here is the sheer diversity of enemies and the arsenal players can use to defeat them. With 7 pieces of weaponry and 10 different monsters to slay, each spin may offer an entirely different experience. Obviously, on many occasions, we'll deal with the weaker Shotgun and hordes of Possessed acting as cannon fodder, but the possibilities are there, no doubt. The bonus round is the moment to sit back and enjoy the show, as it may take quite a while to hack through all those bosses. Still, it's worth the trouble because slaying the Hellfire Tyrant may bag you a top prize of 5,000x the bet.

Design-wise, Gates of Hellfire presents itself rather handsomely if such a term is acceptable when talking about despicable beasts. The artwork on individual monsters is distinctive, while various effects generated by weapons genuinely light up the screen. The creators put the focus where it belongs, letting players enjoy the spectacular bursts of energy that wipe the creatures off the grid. It's all very dynamic, engaging, and, what's most important, fun when you manage to line up multiple different weapons and have plenty of units to decimate.

Gates of Hellfire brews quite a storm with its unique win delivery system and action-packed theme. It's different, no doubt, and takes some time to get used to, but ultimately offers a thrilling new online gambling experience.
