Nine to Five Slot Overview

Nine to Five is a new casino slot from NoLimit City with a feature that takes volatility to a whole new level.

Working nine to five, what a way to make a living, huh? Well, despite what all the “get rich quick” schemes are trying to tell you, that’s what most of us do, and perhaps that’s what the simulation wants us to do. No, we’re not crazy people in tin foil hats that’ll turn this review into some conspiracy theory, but we think NoLimit wants to push that button with this game, similar to what ELK recently did with Jeff & Scully. Not only that but inside this interesting theme lays an absurd feature that we’ve never seen the likes of. Let’s dig in!

Nine to Five is a video slot from NoLimit City with 5 reels, 4 rows, and 1024 payways. Players can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.2 and a Max.bet of 280. The game has a default RTP of 96.03%, but there are also versions with lower RTP than that. It has a free spins hit frequency of 1 in 237 spins, implying that, on average, you’ll trigger the bonus on every 237th spin. A stat that will attract a lot of players and prove the game’s high volatility is the max win frequency of 1 in 150000 spins. Nine to Five is played on high volatility and has a max win of 9217x the bet.

Following the game’s title, some features are quite ordinary for NoLimit, while some are not. The features are Wild Symbol, Scatter Symbol, xNudge Wild, xWays, Middle Management Spins, Ivory Tower Spins, God Mode, Bonus Buys, and xBet.

Nine to Five Slot Information

Upon entering the game, our minds went to Beavis and Butt-Head, much due to the graphics. It’s a unique style of design, perhaps not our favorite, but it has its charm. Apart from all the “ordinary, nine-to-five life” references, NoLimit also shows love for Evolution after getting acquired by them a year ago with an “I<3Evo” coffee cup.

Nine to Five can be played on all common mobile devices and desktops. A winning combination is created by landing 3 or more matching symbols on consecutive reels, starting from the leftmost reel.

The lower-paying symbols consist of printers, food boxes, coffee cups, and staplers. A winning combination of 5 with one of these pays 0.6x-0.8x the bet. The higher-paying symbols include various characters. Five-of–a-kind with these pays 1.25x-4x the bet. There are also Scatter symbols available along with various Wilds and xWays to boost your winnings, but more on that in a bit.

Nine to Five Slot Features

What is the max win in the slot Nine to Five?

You can win up to 9217x the bet.

What features are available in the slot Nine to Five?

The features are Wild Symbol, Scatter Symbol, xNudge Wild, xWays, Middle Management Spins, Ivory Tower Spins, God Mode, Bonus Buys, and xBet.

Wild Symbol

Wild symbols can land on reels 2-5 and transform into a green Wild with a multiplier of 1x-5x or a red Wild, which is a dead symbol.

Scatter Symbol

The Scatter symbols spell out “Climb The Corporate Ladder”. Landing 3 or 4 triggers the Middle Management Spins or Ivory Tower Spins, respectively.

xNudge Wild

The xNudge Wild symbols can land on reels 2-5. This will always nudge to fully cover its entire reel. Each nudge increases the win multiplier by 1. Once it covers the reel, it will also nudge an additional 0-9 steps. If more than one xNudge Wild is included in a win, their multipliers will multiply each other.

xWays

xWays come in the form of post-it notes. These reveal 2-4 symbols of the same kind.

Middle Management Spins

Landing 3 Scatter symbols triggers 10 Middle Management Spins. During these, Layoff and Lawsuit symbols can land. Lawsuit symbol acts before the Layoff symbol.

Each Layoff symbol will increase the win multiplier by 1 whereas each Lawsuit symbol will decrease it by 1. When you’re out of spins, your total win will be multiplied by the total win multiplier collected.

Landing an Overtime symbol will award +1 spin, and landing 2 of them on the same spin upgrades the bonus to Ivory Tower Spins.

Ivory Tower Spins

Landing 4 Scatter symbols triggers 12 Ivory Tower Spins. Instead of Layoff and Lawsuit symbols, Tech Layoff and ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’ symbols can land. The ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’ symbol acts before the Tech Layoff symbol.

The Tech Layoff symbol adds a win multiplier and then doubles the value of the next Tech Layoff multiplier. The ‘Ctrl+Alt+Del’ symbol divides the value of the next Tech Layoff by 4 (rounded down to the nearest integer).

Landing an Overtime symbol will award +1 spin.

God Mode

The God Mode Bonus Buy is something we’ve never quite seen before. At 1370x the bet, you buy a spin where you either win 0x or the max win of 9217x the bet. To get the max win, you must land the entire blue screen.

Bonus Buys

Apart from the God Mode, the following bonus buys are also up for grabs:

75x = Activates the Middle Management Spins.
200x = Activates the Ivory Tower Spins.
125x = Either activates the Middle Management spins (60% chance) or the Ivory Tower Spins (40% chance).

xBet

At an extra cost of 10% of the base bet, the last reel will be blocked with an increased chance of landing a Scatter symbol. This increases your chance of triggering one of the Free Spins features by 2 times.

Nine to Five Slot Conclusion

“It’s all takin’ and no givin’” is a line from Dolly Parton’s famous song with the same title as this game, and sometimes, it sure does apply to the God Mode Bonus Buy. 1370x the bet in itself is a hefty cost for a bonus buy, and when you add in the 0x factor, it seems even crazier. But you can also be lucky and hit the max win twice in a row, so the term high volatility has never been more fitting. One of our streamers over at Casinodaddy, Ogge, once said that someone should create a bonus buy where you either get the max win or 0x. Were you listening, NoLimit?

Worth noting, though, is that the God Mode Bonus Buy is unlikely to be very appealing for the majority of players. Even at the lowest bet size, it comes in at a cost of €274 and has a very high chance of returning 0. Streamers and players with huge bankrolls might give it a go, though.

Although too unique not to be the focus, Nine to Five has a lot more to offer than the God Mode feature. The nudges and xWays make it feel like an authentic NoLimit experience, where it’s easy to see how the game explodes. However, while they’ve been very innovative in one department, the rest of the game doesn’t feel that groundbreaking. The Middle Management Spins feel tame, with a rather slow exponential increase in multiplier. This changes if you reach the Ivory Tower, where you’ll immediately see more potential.

Nine to Five by NoLimit City offers an absolutely absurd feature buy in what feels like an authentic NoLimit experience.
