Slotmill flew under our radar for a long time. We had heard of them, of course, but didn’t quite know how good of a slot provider they were. That’s in the past now, though, as we now consider them one of the absolute best in the business with their constant high-quality productions and innovative game designs. The first Sands of Eternity, however, was a game that we discovered, or at least started paying attention to, long after we got our eyes up for Slotmill. We stumbled upon it during a live stream session on Casinodaddy and were immediately intrigued as we realized that it felt like a more volatile and potent version of Temple Tumble, which has always been one of our favorite games and inspired our first slot release, Sloth Tumble. But despite our love for Sands of Eternity, we’ve never seen it being requested or mentioned much, so it’s a bit unclear how successful it was. For that reason, we were surprised to see that it was getting a sequel. Very pleasantly surprised, that is. Let’s dig in!

Special Stone Blocks

Feature symbols can be locked in Stone Block positions and activated when the Stone Block is destroyed. The following Feature symbols are available:

Random Expansion

On any spin, the Random Expansion feature can be randomly triggered, removing a random amount of Stone Blocks.

Free Spins

If you land 3 or more Scatter symbols in a spin, the Free Spins feature is triggered, and you are awarded 8 Free Spins. On each spin, additional Special Stone Blocks are added to the grid on random Stone Blocks. Multiplier Stone Blocks and Extra Free Spin Stone Blocks are now available, increasing your overall multiplier and giving you extra spins. Super Mode

2024 appears to be the year of sequels in the iGaming sector. That's why Sands of Eternity 2 is particularly exciting for us; it’s a game we hold dear and didn't anticipate would garner enough popularity to warrant a sequel. Thus, the question is: Will Sands of Eternity 2 succeed in captivating players and making it to the top of the charts?

We believe that all ingredients are there. Slotmill has stuck to what we fell in love with in Sands of Eternity, with a progressive multiplier and an expanding grid. But instead of creating a whole new game, this feels more like a patch. Or an expansion, perhaps. It doesn’t work all that differently, and the new mechanics don’t change the way you win too much. However, the game feels smoother, more explosive, and offers more possibilities for players. An Extra Bet is available for those willing to pay a little bit extra for quicker bonuses, and a Super Bonus can be randomly triggered to offer a boatload of potential. Not too much added, yet nothing feels missing. So we once again find ourselves going back to what we said before. Sands of Eternity 2 is more of an updated version of Sands of Eternity than a standalone game, but perhaps it has made the few key changes that can nudge it in the right direction and become the blockbuster that we believe it deserves. 

Sands of Eternity 2 by Slotmill continues on what made its predecessor great but makes some slight changes and gives it a graphical revamp.
