Shadow Treasure can be played on most common mobile devices and desktops. A winning combination is created by landing 3 or more matching symbols on consecutive reels within the game’s lines, starting from the leftmost reel. 

The lower-paying symbols include gems colored purple, blue, green, orange, and red. A full line of 5 with one of these pays 0.7x-1.5x the bet. The higher-paying symbols consist of a map, compass, backpack, and adventurer. Five-of-a-kind with these pays 2x-5x the bet. Wild symbols can substitute for any of these, and 5 Wilds in a line pay 10x the bet. To trigger Free Spins, you need to land 4 or more Scatter symbols.

It must be exciting times over at NowNow Gaming. Partnering in any way with Hacksaw means that you get instant access to a whole new audience that would’ve taken years to reach if you went on your own. Because on most online casinos, games from Backseat Gaming, Bullshark Games, and now NowNow Gaming show up when you filter for Hacksaw. But it’s not all about visibility. If the game isn’t fun, it won’t have any longevity, and we do fear that Shadow Treasure could take that route.

There are aspects of the game that are good, but most of them could also be a lot better, and in a way, the game feels incomplete. The overall presentation is pretty neat but could’ve had an even more “alive” vibe to it if the background had more life in it. That’s fine, though, and not the reason we don’t believe that this won’t be a big commercial success. The reason for that is that, frankly, the game is a tad boring. There’s not a lot going on, and the game’s core mechanic doesn’t feel explosive enough. Sure, there are moments of excitement when a big multiplier value is available at the top, but those moments are too rare for us to be impressed. But hey, this is the first release from NowNow on their new journey, and we’re impressed with its visuals; it just needed a little more spice. 

Shadow Treasure from NowNow Gaming is the provider’s first game on Hacksaw’s OpenRGS platform, but it fails to live up to the expectations that come with it.
