The Grand Show is a video slot from Push Gaming with a setup of 5 reels, 4 rows, and 20 paylines. Players can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.05 and a Max.bet of 100. The game has a default RTP of 96.28%, but there are also versions of 94.35%, 88.47%, and 85.49%. Interesting to note is that the RTP is slightly higher if you use one of the Push Bet features. Lastly, The Grand Show is played at medium volatility and can net you a max win of 10000x the bet.

It’s opening night at The Grand Show. The base game takes place just outside, but once a bonus is triggered, you get to enter the tent, and the curtains are pulled. Visually, Push has got it nailed with sharp graphics and an all-around grand scene. 

The Grand Show can be played on most common mobile devices and desktops. A winning combination is created by landing 3 or more matching symbols on consecutive reels within the game’s lines, starting from the leftmost reel. 

The lower-paying symbols include J, Q, K, and A. Five-of-a-kind with these pays 2x-4x the bet. The higher-paying symbols consist of popcorn, hot dog, clown, and ringmaster. A full line of 5 with one of these pays 12x-100x the bet. There are a bunch of feature symbols available as well, but more on that in a bit.

Wild Symbol

Wild symbols enable more winning combinations by substituting for other paying symbols.

Instant Prize & Jackpot Symbols

Instant Prize symbols can land with values between 1x-500x the bet. Jackpots are as follows: Mini (10x), Minor (50x), Major (250x), Mega (1000x), and Grand (10000x). If a Top Hat symbol lands on reel 1 at the same spin as an Instant Prize symbol or Jackpot symbol, the corresponding prize is awarded. 

Free Spins

Landing 3 or more Scatter symbols awards 10 Free Spins. If you land 4 Scatters, Prize Symbols will have values of minimum 5x, and if you Land 5, it will be minimum 10x. If you land a Top Hat Symbol on reels 1 and 5 during Free Spins, the Bonus Feature will be triggered and the present Instant Prize and Jackpot symbols will be carried over. 

The Top Hat symbols seem to land a bit more frequently in the Free Spins feature, but other than that not much is going on in it if you “only” have 3 Scatters.

Bonus Feature

When a Top Hat symbol lands on reels 1 and 5, the Bonus Feature is triggered. Any Instant Prize symbol or Jackpot symbol present will be carried over to the Bonus. You are awarded 6 spins and a 5x8 grid. Reel 5 is a locked Multiplier Reel, multiplying the value of Prize symbols on its row. The following symbols are available on reels 1 to 4: Instant Prize Symbol, Jackpot Symbol, and Nudge Up Symbol (nudges up any Prize on that reel by 1). 

The bottom position on Reel 5 can contain the following symbols:

Nudge All Symbol: Nudges all Prizes up by 1. 

Boost Symbol: Increases all Multipliers on reel 5. 

Re-trigger Symbol: Awards 1, 2, or 3 extra spins.

When the spins are over, the Multipliers multiply all Prize symbols on their corresponding rows, and the values are paid out.

The Grand Show Slot Conclusion

There’s something that worries us as soon as we enter a game and see 5 static Jackpots above the reels. Perhaps we’re scarred by all the Hold & Win games out there, as they’re often of quite low volatility and the big prizes always feel so far away. But when Push is involved, we know that the potential is real, so we’ve tried to stay positive throughout our playthrough. We have, however, come to the conclusion that the Grand Show doesn’t feel as grand as the title suggests. We get the same vibe that we got from a game like Big Bite, where the foundations are there but fail to provide you with anything new and innovative. 

We may sound overly negative, but Push has set extremely high standards with some of the greatest games of all time, so when we stumble upon something like this, we just feel disappointed. With that said, The Grand Show is in no way a bad game. The features are frequent, and the potential is there to hit big, but we feel like we’ve seen this game 200 times before. To hit really, really big, you’ll need to land the Mega or Grand Jackpot, and even though that might be equally likely as hitting a 5000x in any other game, it feels harder as you need this one specific thing. However, as with anything that Push Gaming releases, it’s a high-quality game with great graphics and animations.  A lot of you will probably find joy in The Grand Show, and we did as well to an extent, but it’s not making any Game of the Year list.
