The Wizard of Oz Slot Information
The movie Wizard of Oz is based on a novel series by Lyman Frank Baum, who published his first book about the land of Oz in 1900. The movie has been popular for generations, and we have seen several video slots over the years based on it. This latest Wizard of Oz video slot isn’t a new adventure game with innovative graphics – more the complete opposite. Basic doesn’t always have to be wrong, though. In fact, some of the biggest video games of today, like Minecraft, use really outdated graphics. The animations of The Wizard of Oz are fundamental, and the characters are taken straight from the movie. It is actually a young Judy Garland we are looking at on these symbols that don’t really spin on the reels but rather drop down from above, looking like the cards of a memory game.
The symbols need to be connected in clusters either horizontally or vertically to make a win. You need at least 3 connecting symbols of the same type, and it doesn’t matter where on the slot they land as long as they’re connected. It could, for example, be 4 of the same on the fifth reel. All the symbols of a win disappear after the money is collected, and new symbols drop down in their place. If a new win can be created, those winning symbols vanish too, and new symbols drop down, continuing the cascading win sequence until no more wins are made. This game can be played on desktops, notepads, and mobiles.
The lower paying symbols in this magic fairytale are rainbow, house, diploma, courage medal, and heart clock. Landing 8 of them award you a win of 5X-50X the bet. The more valuable symbols are Winged Monkey, Wicked Witch, and Glinda, the good witch of the North. Landing 8 of these symbols will award you 100X-500X the bet. You might ask yourself: what happened to Dorothy? Well, she’s actually one of seven different scatter symbols that can take you to the three bonus games. Along with Dorothy are the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the dog Toto. All 5 symbols are required to reach the Yellow Brick Road Bonus. Other symbols are Wild Poppies that activate the Wild Poppies Bonus Game, and the Ruby Slippers that activate the 5 Free Games.   Â
The Wizard of Oz Slot Features
What is the max win in the slot The Wizard of Oz?
You can win up to 5000X the bet.
What features are available in the slot The Wizard of Oz?
The features are Free Games, Wild Poppies Bonus Game, and the Yellow Brick Road Bonus Game.
Free Games
This is a basic free spins feature without anything extra. You’ll enable this feature by landing 3 Ruby slippers anywhere on the slot. The free spins use the cascading wins, just like in the base game. It is not possible to activate another bonus game or reactivate the Free Games during the feature.
Wild Poppies Bonus Games
The red poppy flower is the scatter symbol for this bonus game. Collect 3 poppies anywhere on the reels to activate this feature. It starts with all the reels turning into a game board, where all the positions show the flower. A price sum or a Wicked Witch that doesn’t pay anything will appear by clicking on the flower. You continue to turn over the cards, adding up all the wins, until three witches have been chosen and the game is over. Somewhere among the 20 positions is also a 2X multiplier that multiplies the wins.
Yellow Brick Road Bonus
The Yellow Brick Road is located to the left of the reels, leading all the way to Emerald City. To activate the feature, you’ll need to land one of each of the 5 scatter symbols (Dorothy, Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and Toto) anywhere on the reels. The road to the city is filled with multipliers going 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, 6X, 7X, 8X, 9X, 10X, 12X, 14X, 16X, 18X, 20X, 25X, 50X, and 5000X. You start by spinning a wheel containing the numbers 1-6 and two positions saying collect. By hitting any of the numbers, you’ll walk as many steps as the number on the road’s multiplier. If you, for example, are standing on 3X and hit number 2 on the wheel, you’ll move to 5X. You get to respin the wheel until it hits collect. The win is multiplied by your main game bet, so playing for 1€ will give you 8€ if you finish this feature on the 8X multiplier.
The Wizard of Oz Slot Conclusion
If you’re a sucker for the famous classic movie about Dorothy and the other characters in the land of Oz, you’re going to love this game. It doesn’t just have an old touch; it is just as retro – or outdated – as the movie. If there is a physical slot machine from that era, it probably looks something like this, although some of the graphics might be a little too advanced for 1939. It is cool that all the characters are represented, and it is a nice mix of features, although the free spins feature could definitely have offered more than 5 spins. Another thing that doesn’t look good is the annoyingly low RTP of 86.99%. While we’re mentioning negative sides, let’s not forget the 7 different scatter symbols. As we already said, it’s cool that so many characters from the movie are represented, but these symbols don’t pay out anything in the main game. So, most of the time, they’re just in the way, sabotaging the wins. Another not so brilliant detail is that the Wicked Witch is both the second best-paid symbol in the main game, and the evil character that ends the Wild Poppies feature. However, this remastered version has received only a few upgrades, with its design remaining the same as the original. One can see an increase in its potential maximum win from the previous 3000X to now being 5000X, where it is now also possible to play the slot on all the devices notepads, desktops and mobiles.
On the other hand, the cascading wins are a lovely part of the game, making the main game a lot more exciting. The Yellow Brick Road is also an excellent feature. We could have wished for the 17-step multiplier to build up a little quicker, though, considering the second-best step is 50X, before the last one skyrockets to the max win 5000X the bet. We have to keep in mind that it is a game with medium volatility, and you will notice that most wins, even in the features, are pretty moderate. The average bonus payout is 11X the bet, which is a pretty low number compared to highly volatile games with more exciting features.
The Wizard of Oz video slot looks just like the iconic movie, containing all the familiar characters from the fantasy land of Oz.
