AvatarUX Review
AvatarUX was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in Malta. In 2019, they launched their first Slot Game, Lilith’s Inferno. However, AvatarUX would soon release something that’d take the industry by storm: Pop games.
It’s unclear if they knew which path they were about to take when PopRocks was released, but after that, they became the “Pop” provider. Sure, AvatarUX has released a few games without the PopWins mechanic, but almost all releases use it in one way or another. Some may think that that makes it a one-trick pony provider, but it has given them a strong identity, making this a unique game developer.
“We had no guarantee about whether this mechanic was going to be a hit or miss, although we definitely had high hopes. We believed in this mechanic enough to give it a chance, and after seeing that it was positively received, we continually refined and improved it along with its visual flow and user experience.
We pride ourselves on having created PopWins and transforming it into a mechanic that not only resonates with players but has also become a part of AvatarUX's identity”

The PopWins mechanic works as follows: Every time a player lands a winning combination, the symbol ‘Pops’ to create two new icons – creating the potential for another win. The PopWins™ sequence can create multiple wins since the feature continues to roll if the Pops keep creating new wins.
This results in everlasting tumbles and an expanding grid, which perfectly explains many of the games that the feature appears in. For those of you who have not played a Pop game, you may think that this must result in very one-dimensional and similar games, but that’s not the case. The PopWins mechanic is just a foundation upon which AvatarUX build their games on, so even if it’s present, other mechanics are applied to make the games unique.
CherryPop is one of the most classic Pop games. It features a multiplier that can reach astronomical heights by consecutive winning combinations. But in a game like LooneyPop, you instead need to land feature symbols on the ZapReel (another AvatarUX mechanic) to net some big wins. What we want to say is that just because most games have “Pop” in the title, they can be vastly different.
With that said, AvatarUX has actually started to deviate a little from the Pop strategy. With games like Floridaman and Nugget, the provider proves that they are, in fact, not a one-trick pony but can make games without their beloved Pop game and still hold a high quality.
If you want to try out their games, we have demo versions on most slot reviews!
AvatarUX Conclusion
It’s interesting to follow AvatarUX’s progress. AvatarUX has positioned itself in a niche so closely associated with its PopWins mechanic that it might become challenging for the company to branch out into other areas. They’ve proven that they are not completely dependent on it, but we think that it could still be an uphill battle for them if they were to deviate from it too much. It’s a proven mechanic that they know works, but at some point, players may get tired of it, so we’re happy to see AvatarUX trying to branch out.
